Who I Am
Aside from being pure awareness-hahaha, I operate in the world as a Certified Meditation Teacher (CMT-P), Artist www.ginamiller.ca , Counsellour and Group Facilitator specializing in addictive behaviours. My most challenging and rewarding work is being the proud Mum of three boys.
For the last twenty years I have worked in the helping field in a variety of environments and with diverse populations. I have guided clients using Art Therapy as a way to process emotions with people living with HIV and AIDS at The Dr. Peter Centre, and with adults with developmental disabilities for Ridge Meadows Association for Community Living. I spent years as a Coach, counselling people with negative body image and food issues at Vital Body Weight Loss Clinic. This latter work and my lived experience with addiction, led me to work as a Group Facilitator in Addiction Treatment with Sage Counselling and Addiction Treatment. That work included facilitating an intensive non-residential treatment program for women suffering from drug misuse disorder.
I am currently on staff with Shift Recovery By Acorn leading process groups and doing one:one counselling with people struggling from food addiction.
I also work in private practice leading sessions that are a unique blend of Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Compassionate Inquiry, Internal Family Systems and spirituality. My sessions are unique to the individual I am working with.
It is the combination of my lived experience, skill, humour and wisdom that make my one:one teachings and group workshops collaborative, inclusive and joyful!
Having had a fickle relationship with my meditation practice in the past, I know what it is like to become frustrated and doubtful. After becoming sober many years ago, I was able to develop a daily meditation practice which changed the way I see myself and the world around me. I know true refuge within myself. I feel that my story can encourage and guide you too.
You can expect that I will hold a kind space for you to reconnect to your authenticity and find meaning. We will see what it’s like to explore internal and external experience in real time with a gentle curiosity.
